gDiaper Disaster

Last night was our average night after getting home from work I talked to Donnie about my day as he finished making dinner for us, I fed Maria, and we all hung out and watched some TV.  David got his homework done and we all went to bed at about 8:30-9:00. We all took our showers and began getting ready for bed. I asked Donnie about his gDiaper situation for tomorrow.

10:07PM
“Do you have enough? Do I need to wash some?”
“I don’t know you will have to check”
“It looks like you've only got two clean ones left, okay let me count them 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…okay we have 7 where's number 7? Have you seen the last gDiaper?”
“No I haven’t did you look in the compartment?”
“Yes not there…okay I’ll look for it later.”
I don't know where it might be but before I start my frantic search I am going to get these on the wash and I'll think about it.
5 minutes later…
Ha! I know where it is.
It's in the diaper bag from when Maria was at the doctors yesterday.
Yay I didn’t have to think too hard and drive myself crazy with worry over the missing diaper.

I went outside to the garage and sure enough there it is. I got it out of the diaper bag saw two more gDiapers although these are just the liners with a disposable insert inside of them. Good that will save me from having to set up two diapers for Donnie tomorrow. What is all this other stuff in the car?! Blankets, spit up towels, bibs, and what are these jackets doing out here oh my gosh there's so much stuff that needs to be washed I'm just going to bring it all inside and put it in the washing machine.

I went and grabbed the laundry that was left in the bathroom and put it in the washing machine put in Oxiclean, put in the Dreft, turned it to baby wear. Okay start. Yay laundry is done Donnie has gDiapers for tomorrow. I'll put them in the dryer in the morning and he'll be all set.

10:45
I sat down with Maria to feed her and watch some TV with Donnie. When she was done eating I was ready to get to bed but Maria needed a diaper change. I headed to the bathroom to change her and realized she was wearing a gDiaper. Okay I'll put one of the gDiaper liners that I got from the car…OH MY GOD! I put them in the washing machine! I yell for Donnie to watch and change her and tell him what I did.

Yes, the 2 disposable gDiaper liners that were perfectly good that I had meant to bring into the house I put in the washing machine!

Quick I have to go stop the washing machine!
Hit the pause button.
Why isn't the door unlocking?
What's going on!
Turn it off, turn it back on, try another setting…a little bit of draining good hit the pause button. Nothing! Turn it off, turn it back on try another setting a little bit more draining hit the pause button still not unlocking.
Why is this door not unlocking?!
Okay deep breath let’s try resetting the washing machine. Unplug the washing machine. Plug it back in. Turn it on; select a setting, still not unlocking grrrrr.
It will not open!
Alright I am going to go tell Donnie that it won’t open.

After explaining the situation that it won’t open and that I am frustrated he comes and takes a look. Yes, I know the door won't unlock. He doesn’t know either and he is trying everything that I did. Maria starts to cry so he goes and takes care of her since I am freaking out.

Okay I'm going to try this I open up the compartment where the trap is and unscrew the trap so that I can clean it out and holy smokes water gushing out of the washing machine!
I hurry up and put the trap/plug back in. Hurry up grab some towels to wipe up the water but it's all over the floor…I am ready to cry!
I was not expecting that all the water would try to come out and I don't know why (all I can blame it on is I am too tired).
Okay think smarter not harder grab the dirty diaper pail for Maria's gDiapers and put it under the plug so I can catch all this water is it comes gushing out of the machine.
Undo the plug one more time and look at all the dirty water coming out of the machine. I look for gDiaper parts to come out too is that some? I don't know I can't tell. Maybe. Clean the trap grrr there is nothing on it so maybe no gDiaper stuff had escaped into the machine.

Turn the machine back on and hurray it allows the door to be open.
Let me take a look inside. No!!!! Little particles of gDiaper all over all the clothes in the washer and the washing machine and ouch the water is steaming hot but what can I do?
I pull them out and ring out the extra water and put them in the dryer. I pull almost 3 gallons of water from the clothes themselves and no! It looks like we had something bleed onto one of my shirts…anything else? No! Not Maria's blanket! Now I do really want to just sit down and cry but I won't.

Okay put stain wash on the spots that are pink. Put those aside to air dry and be re-washed later turn on the dryer and maybe get some of this gDiaper liner bits out of the clothes. Wipe out the washing machine and put it on a clean cycle.

I am a hot sticky mess from the soapy water so I go take my second shower of the night and change into clean pajamas.

Google is my most favorite tool to find out information. Has anyone else done what I've done? Search, [typing] disposable gDiaper in the washing machine let's see what comes up… looks like a lot of people are done what I’ve done…what were their fixes? Re-wash the clothes again oh no I put them in the dryer should've washed them first! Okay stop the dryer did anything melt into them?  No they are not too bad. I'll wash them again in the morning and let Donnie know that we will need to wash them 2 or 3 more times before they are ready to be dried. Clean out the dryer a little bit and finally go to bed. This was exhausting I am ready for sleep! I finally got into bed at 11:30 and was asleep by 11:45.

Thank you Donnie! He put the clothes from the dryer to the washer at 1AM poor baby is going to be exhausted today!

For those of you who are wondering what a gDiaper is, it is the best of both a cloth and disposable diapering system. When we first found out I was pregnant and we really researched cloth diapers because we didn’t like the environmental impact of disposables and found gDiapers. If you want more information I would be happy to tell you J
